Fauxchella 2012, you have made my year!
The 305K Gallery - Bridgeport CT; this place was stunningly amazing. There was art oozing from the cracks of the ceiling. Veiled in christmas lights and booming with raw sound of jams, this place had what any art student/hipster/stoner could ever wish for. Merch table? Nah fuck that, take the taco hut for example or the 30 x 50ft canvas open to guests to splatter their creative juices all over. A post-it note mural, a prop up and pose station, food, $2 beers, $1 plugs, what more could you ask for?
Two beautiful stages, divided by a couple rooms is where the magic happened. Every band had 30mins to set up while the other was playing at the other end of the venue. This way someone was always playing, making a ruckus.
Out of twelve or so bands, Ports of Spain were amongst the few that played earlier in the evening that really stood out. The drummer and guitarist duo seemed a bit lonely on stage but managed to grab a large crowd to fill up the smaller side of the venue with their chilled tunes. Expect a little something written up on their latest album Winters Teeth soon.
Wess Meets West, I’m glad I caught you when I did. These guys from New Haven CT have musical patience. They had the ability to make their sound grow. Its strength in withholding was amazing. From what they provided in their 30mins on stage, they have had at least one or two albums already out and one clearly on the way but heading in more of a rougher type.., adding a singe to their sound. I’d like to do some contrasting.
&Oh Fang Island, I didn’t forget about yeww; more to come in my next post. This is gunna be good.

Is this a poster I can buy yet???

Not yet, because I don’t really have the means But if you (or anyone) can get this scene by hank or John, maybe they could get it poster-ized if people show interest :)

Bella Union / Post Present Medium; 2010

Crush, the third proper LP from the Chino, California-based quartet Abe Vigoda, was a grower and a pleasant surprise. It finds them taking risks and pushing their creative boundaries. When I first listened to it -admittedly with a nervous feeling in…

I love the subtly of the pace-less, almost confused feel to Wye Oak’s - Doubt. The way each note rings out lets you feel.. time.

It’s passing you by whether you like it or not. It slows down for no one, yet; we take the time to appreciate, or in this case question, what is behind us.

To doubt.

I was just thinking, where did all the time go? This was my childhood! Or at least Pokemon took up a very large portion of it. I’m in bed right now and my DS is lying on my night stand right next to my face! & it has the (semi) new Pokemon White version half played in it calling mah naame.
It’s late, on school night nonetheless. I’ll scavenge for the charger in the morning and hope to play tomorrow sometime. Can’t wait:)
I leave you with a Pokemon Haiku:

Highly defined love,
Ditto for my childhood,
Its poor pixels show
